The Indian Premier League 2022 season was disappointing for Mumbai Indians. Mumbai, the most successful team in IPL history, was able to register only 4 wins in this season of IPL. Not only this, Mumbai was the first team to get out of the playoff race.
This was the worst season of the team under the leadership of Rohit Sharma. But the best thing about this season for Mumbai was that some young batsmen like Tilak Verma, Tim David and Dewald Brevis impressed everyone with their batting and gave the team hope that they will come back in a better way next season.
But when it comes to the batting of Mumbai Indians, Tilak Verma was the most successful. He scored 397 runs in 14 matches at an average of 36 throughout the season. Tilak was praised from coach Mahela to captain Rohit Sharma. He had said that Tilak would soon be seen playing in all three formats for the Indian team.
For giving his service for Mumbai Indians, he got Rs 1.7 crore. Tilak said in an interview that to avoid distraction, he gave all the money he got in IPL to his father. He said that “it is easy to be distracted by money so I gave all my money to my father and told him to keep him away from me.”
It should not be forgotten that Tilak comes from a middle class family and his father is an electrician. He even had to give up food for his training. However, Tilak wishes to buy only one car with this money. He wants to buy a car so that he can avoid riding the bus and go for training comfortably. He said that people in the bus used to complain a lot about him because of the big kit bag.
