- England vs the Netherlands – 17th June 2022
Just a few days back, England broke the record of the highest One Day International total in the history of cricket scoring 498/4 against the minor Netherlands at the Amstelveen. ide. Jos Buttler, who scored 162* and led the carnage, bringing up his century in just 47 balls. Liam Livingstone, who batted at no. 6, scored the fastest 50 in England’s ODI history in just 17 balls being the joint second-fastest of all-time. England hit 26 sixes in their innings of 498 runs against Netherlands, surpassing their own previous best of 25 sixes against Afghanistan back in 2019.
2. England vs Australia – 19th June 2018
England were the previous record holders as well scoring 481/6 against the arch-rivals Australia at Nottingham back in 2018. Alex Hales and Johny Bairstow scored 139 and 147 respectively which was the backbone of this 481 runs on the board. Jason Roy scored 82 runs as he opened the innings for England with Bairstow and then in the middle skipper Eoin Morgan scored 67 runs in just 30 deliveries which provided the finishing touch.
3. England vs Pakistan – 30th August 2016
England was the previous record holder as well scoring 444/3 against Pakistan at Nottingham back in 2016 and the top 3 spots in this list is dominated by England National Cricket Team. Alex Hales scored 171 runs in just 122 deliveries hitting 22 fours and 4 sixes and built a solid partnership with Joe Root who scored 85. Jos Buttler and Eoin Morgan were there in the middle to provide finishing touches which ended up England at a score of 444/3.
4. Sri Lanka vs the Netherlands – 4th July 2006
Finally, there is some other name than England in the list as Sri Lanka scored 443/9 against the minor Netherlands and the innings was led by Sanath Jayasuriya scoring 157 in just 104 deliveries and Tilakratne Dilshan scored 117 runs in just 78 balls which were the big contributions in this 443/9 innings.
5. South Africa vs West Indies
South Africa being again in the list for the 2nd time as they scored 439/2 against Windies at Johannesburg. The top order of South Africa scored all the runs which took Australia to 439. The trio of Hashim Amla, Rilee Rossouw and Ab De Villiers scored 153*, 128 and 149 respectively which was one of the thunderous batting innings to ever witness.
