An unexpectedly entertaining series which is taking place South Africa comes down to this decider and final match of the series. Both Bangladesh and South Africa have shown their quality cricket in the first 2 matches of the series and both now have an equivalent chance to get across the line and earn some valuable Cricket World Cup Super League points. But who will come out on top?
Bangladesh were the underdogs in the series despite some fine recent form in the ODI format, but they made short work of the South African bowling attack in the first game of the series. Shakib Al Hasan led the way with 77 from 64. Liton Das and Yasir Ali also made 50s, before some good late order hitting that took Bangladesh to 314 from their 50 overs. Which was enough to beat the hosts as South Africa’s batting innings crumbled to 276 all out in 48.5 overs.
Whereas in the 2nd ODI the hosts made a comeback and dismantled the Bangladeshi top order to have the visitors on backfoot with a score of 34-5. Afif Hossain, Mahmudullah and Mehidy Hasan Miraz helped Bangladesh rebuild, but they finished with just 194 runs on the board which South Africa chased down 195 with ease, requiring just 37.2 overs to record a comfortable victory in Johannesburg.
Momentum is with South Africa clearly plus the home advantage but we all know what Bangladesh are capable of on their day and South Africa losing the series from here will be a shock for the cricket fans.
