Kolkata Knight Riders started their batting innings really well as Venkatesh Iyer get back to his thunderous striking form by scoring 43 runs in just 24 balls. Ajinkya Rahane and Shreyas Iyer failed to make much impact in the game but any other batter who made an impact was Nitish Rana scoring 43 runs in just 26 deliveries but then the struggle of KKR in the lower middle-order continues as only Rinku Singh was the one who had a score in the 20s as the last 3 batters of KKR- Cummins, Narine, and Southee went back to pavilion on a duck. Bumrah picked up 5 wickets for Mumbai as MI stopped KKR on 164/9.

While chasing, Mumbai was really looking to have a bit of bad luck losing Rohit Sharma on just 2 runs in a very controversial manner, the only MI batter who made an impact in the game was Ishan Kishan, scoring 51 in 43 balls before losing his wicket to Pat Cummins. The whole MI middle order without Suryakumar Yadav seemed to be very shaky as they never created any chances for Mumbai to be back in the game. Pat Cummins picked up 3 wickets for KKR in his 4-over spell while Andre Russell picked up 2 in his 2.3 overs spell.

Brief Scores: KKR: 164/9(Venkatesh Iyer 43; Bumrah 5/10) defeated MI: 113/10 in 17.3 overs(Ishan Kishan 51; Pat Cummins 3/22) by 52 runs.
