Mumbai Indians were invited to bat first, the skipper Rohit Sharma was looking in great touch as he scored valuable 43 runs in 28 deliveries along with Ishan Kishan who scored 45 runs in 28 deliveries in a similar fashion. In the middle order, while everyone else was struggling Tim David came as the savior as he scored 44 runs in just 21 deliveries including 2 fours and 4 maximums to take Mumbai’s total to 177/6. Rashid Khan picked up 2 wickets in his spell of 4 overs.

While chasing, Gujarat Titans made a brilliant start as both of their openers Wriddhiman Saha and Shubhman Gill ended up scoring half-centuries in a quickfire fashion but as soon as these 2 got back to the pavilion, Gujarat started to struggle a bit but still, the game was n their hands till the 19th over requiring just 8 in 6 balls but Daniel Sams did the impossible against David Miller, Rashid Khan and Tewatia, all of them were clutching at the crucial moments but not this time as Tewatia got run out while, on the other hand, Rashid Khan and David Miller were unable to connect the ball for even a boundary as they scored just 3 runs in the final over bottling another 2 points.
