The Indian Premier League has always been the best domestic T20 league in the world. The fan base of the teams in the Indian Premier League is on an elite level whether it be the fan base of Chennai Super Kings or the fan base of Royal Challengers Bangalore! We always feel the positive vibe in every IPL match since its beginning back in 2008. The viewership of the Indian Premier League went to a new scale every year, but this year the viewership has some dip in it. Here are the reasons why the TATA IPL 2022 season has gone down in terms of TRP?

  1. Poor performances of Mumbai Indians and Chennai Super Kings

The most successful franchises in the history of IPL- Chennai Super Kings and Mumbai Indians occupy the bottom 2 places in the points table. Their fanbase is on another level as compared to other franchises, but the poor performances of these 2 franchises in the TATA IPL 2022 season made a large number of fans disinterested in watching their team’s disappointing performance and as per the current scenario these 2 teams are out of the playoffs race.

2.  Downfall in performance of top players

Big players like Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, Ravindra Jadeja, and many more players have disappointed their fans with their poor performance with the bad or with the ball. Ravindra Jadeja has been poor in the field as well when he was leading CSK, Virat has a recorded number of Golden Ducks, and Rohit Sharma too unable to convert his performances into a big one. So, a large number of fan bases end up switching off their T.V. screens after the early departure of their favorite player.

3. Absence of soul players of respective franchises

AB De Villiers retired from IPL last year and Chris Gayle went unsold this season. Even Mr. IPL Suresh Raina went unsold which made many CSK fans disappointed and heartbroken Such kinds of players are the soul of the IPL or the soul of their respective franchises. Suppose the absence of MS Dhoni in the upcoming timing will affect the viewership with a lot more intensity.

4. Inclusion of 2 new teams

Seeing Yuzi Chahal in Rajasthan colors instead of seeing him in the Royal Challengers Bangalore colors is a bit mood off for the Bangalore fans as well and the same goes for Chennai fans when they see Faf in RCB’s colors. Seeing the players like Rashid Khan playing for Gujarat instead of Hyderabad and the fan base of the new franchise is not that big as compared to the older teams. So It will take time for the fans to adapt to these changes in the IPL.

5. Long Duration of IPL

The TATA IPL 2022 season made a comeback just after 6 months the 2021 season got finished and this time with the inclusion of 2 teams the duration of IPL is for a longer time as well. So, basically, we will love to see India vs Pakistan now because it happens so rarely but if we see it every month India playing against Pakistan the craze and level of excitement will go down!
