India vs Sri Lanka 2nd Test, Day 1 Highlights: Sri Lanka was 86/6 in response to India’s 1st innings total of 252 at stumps on the 1st day of the 2nd Test against Sri Lanka here on Saturday. Angelo Mathews scored the most runs for Sri Lanka with an 85-ball 43 while all the other remaining batters of the Sri Lankan side struggled to keep going against the hosts. Niroshan Dickwella and Lasith Embuldeniya were batting on 13 and 0 respectively at the end of the Day 1 play.
Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammad Shami took 3 and 2 wickets respectivey while Axar Patel got on1e as Sri Lanka struggled in their first innings as Sri Lanka trailed by 166 runs.
Earlier on the day, Shreyas Iyer missed his century scoring 92 off 98 deliveries to help India post 252/10 in 59.1 overs after deciding to bat first. Wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant was the 2nd highest scorer for the Indian side with a 26-ball 39 while Vihari made 31. Virat Kohli got out for 23 just before the tea break while the skipper Rohit Sharma scored 15. For Sri Lanka, Lasith Embuldeniya and Praveen Jayawickrama took 3 wickets apiece while Dhananjaya de Silva got better of 2 Indian batters.
