The 15-member team India has been announced for the Asia Cup. Only three fast bowlers have been given place in this team. Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Avesh Khan and young Arshdeep Singh have got a place in the team but the former India captain and selector is not happy with this team selection.
Actually Krishnamachari Srikkanth’s displeasure is also because there is no Jasprit Bumrah in this lineup who is out of the team due to injury. In such a situation, apart from Bhuvneshwar Kumar, he wanted to see another experienced bowler in this team which did not happen.
The absence of Mohammed Shami in the Asia Cup squad has fueled speculation whether he will play in the T20I World Cup or not.
In such a situation, he wanted fast bowler Mohammed Shami to be included in the team. At present, the selectors have selected 3 fast bowlers as well as 3 spinners in the bowling lineup.
The former selector said that he would have given a chance to an additional bowler Mohammad Shami in place of young spin bowler Ravi Bishnoi. Speaking in a show of Star Sports, he said that Shami would also have been in my team. Had I been the chairman of the selection committee, I think he would have been in the team. I don’t go with Ravi Bishnoi. But I still feel that Axar Patel would have been in my team. My team would have a tough fight between Axar Patel and Ashwin.
Shami has not played after the World Cup -:
Talking about Mohammed Shami, he has not been a part of the team since the last T20I World Cup. However, in IPL 2022, he had a good bowling performance for Gujarat Titans. He has been successful almost every time for his team in getting wickets in the powerplays but much of the economy seems to have gone against him and he was not preferred in the team.
