Allan Donald, the former South African fast bowler has been appointed as the fast bowling of Bangladesh as announced by the Bangladesh cricket board on Saturday.
“Allan will join us as bowling coach and will work with the national side until Twenty20 World Cup in Australia this year,” Jalal Yunus, the Bangladesh Cricket Board’s cricket operation chief said.
Allan Donald will replace former West Indies player Ottis Gibson , who worked with the Bangladesh national team for the past two years. Allan Donald, will join the Bangladesh national team in South Africa during their tour in March.
The Bangladesh team will reach South Africa on March 13 to play three match ODI series and two match test series.
Allan Donald is currently with ITEC Knights, a Division One cricket team representing Free State province in South African domestic competitions , working as the head coach.
“A very special day for me,” Allan Donald said in a video message posted by the Bangladesh cricket board.
“I’ll also be working closely with Russell Domingo, who I know really really well from my days with the Proteas,”Allan Donald said.
“I know he has been working hard with the Bangladesh team and I am looking forward to working with the Bangladesh fast bowlers. A young talented bunch, there’s no doubt.”
The ICC Hall of Fame member, Allan Donald worked as a bowling coach for South Africa for four years.
He also worked with England, New Zealand, Sri Lanka and Australia in the past as coach or consultant.
