As per the latest reports, Faf Du Plessis, the former South Africa captain was signed by the Royal Challengers Bangalore in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 auction which took place last week can be the new skipper for the franchise after Virat Kohli stepped down last year. Du Plessis played as an opening batter along with Ruturaj under MS Dhoni captaincy last season and has been a part of the franchise for almost a decade, in this year’s IPL auction Faf was bought by the RCB for the INR 7 crores on Day 1 of the auction.

With his inclusion in the RCB squad, Faf can be the next potential skipper of the RCB franchise along with Australia’s all-rounder Glenn Maxwell, who was retained by RCB. Dinesh Karthik, who led the Kolkata Knight Riders in the 2019 and 2020 editions was also bought by Bangalore in the auction but the probability of him being the skipper is very low.
